Discipleship Training School (DTS) is YWAM’s 5-6-month intensive missions + discipleship experience that empowers you to know God deeper + make him known from Niagara to the Nations!
TWO TERMS, ONE UNIFIED EXPERIENCE
DTS is split into two unique terms; Lecture and Outreach. Lecture term focuses on inward heart transformation and Outreach term focuses on outward practical application. Unified, they empower you to know God and make him known.
LECTURE TERM
During the 12-week lecture term, we provide biblically-based teaching on who God is, who you are, and how to live your calling. Our emphasis is on personal transformation, not just head knowledge. We select passionate and insightful lecturers from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds who are each experienced in their area of expertise. We’ll engage in worship and prayer, 1-on-1 mentorship, small group processing, and constant exploration and service across the Gambia!
OUTREACH TERM
The Outreach term focuses on discovering God’s heart for the nations and answering the call of the Great Commission. Outreach exposes you to another people groups, cultures and religions. It will be a time of activating the knowledge you gained and the gifts you discovered in a cross-cultural context. You and your outreach team will lead various projects that share the Gospel to people in a way they understand, providing care and justice to the isolated and forgotten.
WHY DO A DTS?
In the DTS, everything centres around Jesus’ call to know God and make Him known. This is why we always pair in-class biblical training with in-the-field mission experience. You will grow alongside your team of passionate Jesus followers and discover who God is, who you are in Him, and how to live your calling.
DTS PURPOSE
The core purpose of YWAM’s DTS is to challenge you to hear and obey God’s calling on your life, to inspire growth in your personal relationship with God, to cultivate Christ-like character, to learn from and relate to people from different cultures and walks of life, to impart the vision and value of Christ’s Great Commission and its expression in world missions, and to equip you to serve God wholeheartedly wherever He calls you.
DTS CURRICULUM
Our YWAM DTS aligns with global standards and curriculum regulated by YWAM’s University of the Nations. The DTS is intentionally designed to guide growth in your relationship with God and empower you to live God’s call on your life. The DTS curriculum is built around six teaching categories on the Bible, Who God is, The beginning, What went wrong, The new beginning, and becoming a people like Jesus who bear kingdom fruit.
VENTURE BEYOND DTS
Live your God-given calling and discover the world of possibilities beyond DTS. DTS is the prerequisite for all further work and study with YWAM and our University of the Nations. Join the mission full-time anywhere in the world or find a course to further empower your missional calling.
