Welcome to the Gambia the smiling coast of Africa. This is a destination with many attractions, beautiful beaches, and the symphonies of over 500 species of birds. Gambians are well known as being people of great hospitality and are deeply relational.
YWAM Gambia
We are a multi-cultural team that have been reaching people with the gospel, making disciples and running DTS schools, since 1997. Our base is located at the coast, just walking distance from the beautiful beach.

YWAM Gambia is passionately committed to reaching tribes and sub-cultures with the good news of Jesus Christ, discipling them to be true worshippers, holistically empowering and releasing them into the purpose of God for their lives.
What we do
Our team upcountry: They have been involved in the areas of health, education, and environment while living and praying for transformation in a village at the eastern end of the country for over 20 years. Currently they are focusing on vocational training and tree planting alongside passionate prayers to see ‘Your Kingdom come, your will be done’ in the hearts and minds of this people group.
Our team at the coast has several focuses:
Indigenous worship is a big passion of ours. We work alongside local artists to produce indigenous worship resources for the unreached people groups in the Gambia, focusing on the Fula, Mandinka, and Soninke.
Under the umbrella of King’s Kids we organise biennial interdenominational children and youth camps. Our dynamic football club True Pass Academy has trained and coached teenagers in soccer and other sports since 2013 while sharing the gospel and mentoring them into adulthood.
Partnering with various organisations, we catalyse transformation in the seven spheres of influence through our annual youth forum tagged GoSphere. This conference exposes young people to missions and equips them with know-how to engage their world.
We reach out through weekly broadcasts on national radio to spread the good news of Jesus, and to share godly perspectives on pertinent cultural issues.

We love this country and long for it to be impacted by passionate believers who are willing to give themselves to loving and serving our communities. Feeling that God has brought us into a new season, we are anticipating new growth to our current teams and are keen to grow our local YWAM family and base.
The Gambia is a small country rich in languages and cultures which are designed to bring glory to God, and there are plenty of opportunities to engage in learning from our host country. The official language here is English, which is used in schools and government. Compared to many African countries, the political situation is stable and with a democratic government and elected president. Gambians are incredibly friendly and welcoming people, well known for their hospitality, yet they still need deeper revelation of what God has done for them. Maybe they need just what you can bring to our team…
