YWAM Gambia
We are a multi-cultural team that have been reaching people with the gospel, making disciples and running DTS schools, since 1997. We are currently building a new base at Soma and have have operating locations at both ends of the country.
Our Vision:
YWAM Gambia is a community of passionate disciples of Jesus Christ, partnering with the church, to see The Gambia transformed through the gospel.
What we do
Soma – a new base under construction!
Right now in 2025 we are exciting to be building a brand new YWAM base at Soma. This will be a hub for training and discipleship as a center of influence for the region and beyond.
Once we are up-and-running we are looking forward to hosting a Discipleship Training School.
We also see the base as a location for sports ministries and other ways to serve the local community.
Our team upcountry live and pray for transformation in a village at the eastern end of the country. They are focusing on vocational training and tree planting alongside passionate prayers to see ‘Your Kingdom come, your will be done’ in the hearts and minds of this people group.
Our team at the coast reach out through weekly broadcasts on national radio to spread the good news of Jesus, and to share godly perspectives on pertinent cultural issues. We partner with local churches in training and discipleship, promoting a mission focus for the unreached.

About The Gambia
Welcome to the Gambia the smiling coast of Africa. This is a destination with many attractions, beautiful beaches, and the symphonies of over 500 species of birds. Gambians are well known as being people of great hospitality and are deeply relational.
We love this country and long for it to be impacted by passionate believers who are willing to give themselves to loving and serving our communities. Feeling that God has brought us into a new season, we are anticipating new growth to our current teams and are keen to grow our local YWAM family and base.
The Gambia is a small country rich in languages and cultures which are designed to bring glory to God, and there are plenty of opportunities to engage in learning from our host country. The official language here is English, which is used in schools and government. Compared to many African countries, the political situation is stable and with a democratic government and elected president. Gambians are incredibly friendly and welcoming people, well known for their hospitality, yet they still need deeper revelation of what God has done for them. Maybe they need just what you can bring to our team…
